Chouquet’s

Chouquet’s has been around for three years, yet I’ve seen it for the first time only a few months ago. The usually cool and windy streets of Pacific Heights doesn’t always beckon me to walk down the few blocks it would take to get to the busy Fillmore Street. But this year it has been unusually warm, especially this summer, and I have been walking allover the place. Chouquet’s is a charming neighborhood restaurant with seats and tables out on the sidewalk. You’ll find ubiquitous French fare during the lunch hours and more inventive fare for dinner. I had ordered the summer’s prix fixe menu which starts with a salad, a main course of 7-hour lamb and truffled mashed potatoes, and Baba Au Rhum for dessert. It was a very satisfying meal. They no longer have the prix fixe menu, but all the dishes are now on the regular menu. The lamb was so tender you could eat it with a spoon, and it went perfectly with the creamy truffled mashed potatoes. Definitely on my list of favorite restaurants.
